RACE RULES
Please read all the below Information. You are responsible for your own safety and enter this event at your own risk. It is important that you read the event rules and follow each of the safety guidelines of the event:
All Participant must have agreed to the event waiver.
You MUST NOT compete under another persons identity, as we need to know exactly who is on course for Health & Safety reasons and in case medical treatment is required.
All participants under the age of 18 must have the consent of their parent or guardian.
All participants under the age of 16 in the Half Marathon must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the event.
All participants under the age of 13 in the Quarter Marathon or 5km must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the event.Parents are welcome to accompany their child in the KIDS Mile for Support & Encouragement.
First Aid is located at the Race Headquarters – Gould Reserve, The Strand, Takapuna Beach.
Please ensure you fill in your Emergency Contact Details and any medical conditions on the back of your Race Bib Number.Participants only are allowed on the Course and Start/Finish Area. Everyone is welcome at the Recovery Zone.ALL New Zealand Road Rules Apply.ALL roads are OPEN to normal traffic. There are absolutely NO Road Closures.You MUST run on the footpath at all times and within the safety cones.Do not cut any corners.Knowing the course is YOUR responsibility, please double check the course map as we have a number of off road sections.You MUST listen to and obey any instructions given by Race Officials and remember in most cases they are Volunteers here to help you stay safe!
If you are walking or running in a group please do not walk or run more than two abreast.Please be aware of participants passing you from behind and keep to the left.
Please seed yourself accordingly at the start. Fast at the front, Slow at the back.Please ensure you are at your correct event start and attend the Safety Briefing for your chosen event. See Race Day Schedule.
The North Shore Marathon event is Cup Free. This means you will need to bring your own reusable cup or hydration device (eg: Pack, flask, handheld bottles etc) to refill at the Refill Stations as required. You are welcome to carry your own hydration products. Please ensure you have adequate and suitable clothing.Please ensure you are physically fit, medically safe and healthy enough to complete your chosen distance.
If you are unsure please seek advice from a medical professional immediately.
If you feel unwell or unfit to compete in the event we strongly advice you to withdraw immediately and seek assistance or professional advice.If another participant is in distress immediately offer assistance and inform a Race Official.Please report any accidents or incidents to a Race Official as soon as possible.Race Numbers MUST be worn on the front of your top at all times.Timing Responders are attached to the back of your Race Number.
If you withdraw from the event please inform a Race Official or the Timing Team at the Finish.The use of portable music devices is discouraged for your own safety.The Walking categories will not be judged and it would be appreciated if all Walkers adhere to sportsmanship behaviour and WALK THE ENTIRE EVENT if in the Walker category.
All forms of wheeled conveyance including but not limited to wheelchairs, bicycles, inline skates, prams/buggies, skate boards, scooters are not permitted.No pets are allowed to accompany participants.
Be polite and give-way to other pedestrians and the general public. You are sharing the area with these people.
Entry Fees are Non-Refundable, however you can take advantage of our Participant or Distance Transfer Policy.

KIDS MILE - PARENT PARTICIPATION
Parents are welcome to accompany their child in the KIDS Mile to provide Support & Encouragement if required.
Parents please DO NOT try to pace your child to a victory, as parent involvement is purely to support and encourage our youngest ones on what might be a daunting challenge.
If accompanying your child, Parents are required to act in a safe manner, being aware that young children can be unpredictable in a race environment.
