Established in 2007 originally as the North Shore City Half Marathon as part of the RUN Auckland Series, then evolving to the North Shore Marathon in 2011, the event has a long and proud history as North Shore's best running event.
As one of New Zealand's most scenic running courses taking in the beautiful North Shore Coastline with sections along Milford, Takapuna and Cheltenham Beaches.
Followed by a circuit up and around Maungauika/Historic North Head*.
This spectacular part of the course has been the showcase of the event since 2007 with Auckland’s best views out into the Hauraki Gulf to Rangitoto Island and Auckland City Skyline out into the Hauraki Gulf to Rangitoto Island.
There course features a mixture of road, beach, and grass trails, so there is a bit of something for everyone
*Maungauika/North Head Historic Reserve is Treaty of Waitangi redress land of Nga Mana Whenua o Tamaki Makaurau, being the 13 iwi/hapū of Tāmaki Makaurau.

Life Education - North SHore vision
1. Enabling Children to reach their full potential.
2. Educate and inspire generations to embrace positive choices for a healthy mind and body.
who is harold?
Harold the Giraffe is the mascot of Life Education. He works in the mobile classroom with the educator to demonstrate what happens when things go according to plan and what happens when they don’t.
Harold is a friendly character, and children’s responses show that Harold has a huge impact in re-enforcing the messages we teach:
Giraffes are tall. We teach children to stand tall and be proud of who they are.
The pattern on a giraffe’s skin is unique, like a fingerprint. We teach children that they, too, are unique and special.
Giraffes have big hearts. We teach children to be kind to others.
Giraffes have long necks. We teach children to be prepared to stick their necks out and support their friends.
